Job DescriptionThe substitute teacher is expected to follow the classroom teacher's directions when the classroom teacher is unable to attend. The substitute teacher is responsible to make sure that the lessons are conducted and the teacher assistants are utilized as scheduled by the teacher.
Essential Functions- Follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher and prepare by reviewing the teacher's plans and notes before instructional time begins.
- Be in charge of the classroom ensuring that the teacher assistants and instructional materials enhance the instructional school day.
- Act as a professional in the building, introducing self to persons who enter the classroom and demonstrating professional conduct regarding confidential information about students and personnel.
- Professional Educator License OR Substitute Teaching License OR Bachelor's degree and willingness to obtain a Substitute License.
- Experience in special education preferred but not required.
- Building Principal or building-level supervisor
- Program Administrator
- Program Supervisor
Sub Rates
Certified Substitutes (hold a Sub or PEL license)
- $183.35 (Days 1-15)
- $198.63 (Days 15+)
- Long Term Sub: $305.58 (21 or more consecutive days in the same assignment)
Non-Certified Substitutes
- $24.40 per hour
