Job Summary:

A. Planning and Preparation Demonstrates knowledge of child and adolescent development Establishes general outcomes for the support services appropriate to the setting and the students served Demonstrates knowledge of resources, both within and beyond the school and district Plans support services to meet the needs of individual students Develops a plan to evaluate the support services provided

B. Classroom/Therapeutic Environment Creates an environment of respect and rapport Establishes a culture for productive communication Defines expectations Contributes to the culture for positive student behavior in the school

C. Instruction/Delivery of Service Provides direct services in the classroom without pulling students from the room Assesses student needs Uses strategies in the social work setting Collaborates with stakeholders (staff, families, outside providers, etc.) in order to meet student needs Reflects on practice

D. Professional Responsibilities & Personal Qualities Manages paperwork Participates in a school/district community Engages in professional development Shows professionalism

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois teaching license with proper endorsement(s): school social work Ability to effectively collaborate Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Skilled in use of instructional technology Experience or interest in working with students with moderate to severe behavioral and emotional disabilities Trained in Nonviolent Crisis Interventions or willing to obtain this certification
