Sports Camp Director

Department: Recreation – Summer Camp

Type: Seasonal

Time Frame: July 6, 2026 – August 14, 2026

Rate: $20-21.50/ hour

Location: Donaldson County Park, Highland Park High School, Johnson Park

The Sports Camp Director will plan, coordinate, and manage all sports camp programs. This position requires pre-camp planning, attendance at all camp trainings in June, and availability for all of the camp dates below. Summer camp planning must be completed by or before May 29, 2026. This includes daily schedules, special events, supply lists and camp staff training materials.

Summer Camp runs from Monday – Friday, July 6, 2026 – August 14, 2026; 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Work Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Recreation Coordinator on oversight of camp management
  • Communicate with contracted instructors to plan and implement programming for each weekly sport(s) and create a weekly overview email for parents
  • Manage daily schedule for both age groups and keep activities on time
  • Manage and provide oversight and support for Sports Camp Counselors
  • Assist in planning and leading required staff trainings
  • Plan and lead weekly camp staff meetings
  • Complete post-camp reviews for all staff
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all parents, guardians, counselors, and sports camp staff prior to and during summer camp
  • Maintain attendance records and incident reports
  • Understand camper behaviors and respond appropriately
  • Be vigilant and follow all safety guidelines provided by the camp
Requirements
  • Age 21+
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certified
  • Experience in summer camp, recreation, teaching or childcare environment
  • Experience in youth sports and physical education
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Docs
