To provide professional expertise and oversight in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive nutrition services program for children and families. This role ensures full compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including Head Start Program Performance Standards, Great Start School Readiness Program requirements, Michigan Child Care Licensing regulations, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).Essential
Functions
* Work in Partnership with the Food Service team and assistant Director of Health and Nutrition to implement the Food service program in Head Start.
* Provide oversight to the Cooks and Food Aides, including but not limited to: establishing work methods/techniques; conferring with staff on their work and counseling staff upon their selected approaches to accomplishing work goals; serving as a liaison to professional consultants and volunteers; in conjunction with Site managers evaluating staff performance; evaluating staff development needs and determining appropriate training or coaching;
maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records of staff development events for reporting purposes; and resolving staff conflicts.
* Monitor the food service program to ensure that it meets and exceeds all CACFP, Head Start and food safety and sanitation guidelines.
* Conduct 3
-4 unannounced CACFP observations at each site yearly.
* Collect and review all invoices and receipts to submit in SAGE.
* Purchase all food and nonfood items for all sites as needed.
* Work with food service vendors to ensure quality meal service.
* Regularly review meal portions and CACFP records and reports regularly.
* Occasionally transport food items to other sites.
* Keep CACFP files (family income forms, monthly reports, and application) current and properly stored.
* Work in partnership with Contract RD for monthly menu planning.
* Maintain food cost and budgets.
* Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, partners and staff.
* Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne-Metro policies and procedures.
* Perform necessary health screenings (Vision, Hearing, Blood Pressure, HCT/HGL when necessary).
* Participate in staff development and in-service training activities.
* Attend agency departmental meetings and training.
* Assist in obtaining required In-Kind
* Perform related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Schools/Professional:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, sit, see, talk and hear, and use hands to manipulate. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb steps, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch.
The employee is required to supervise students, requiring the employee to match walking speed that matches the student and may at times require the ability to run to safeguard students. The employee must occasionally lift (up to 50 pounds), carry, and move students. Employees must occasionally move equipment and/or supplies. The job is performed for the most part in a school setting with occasional outside weather conditions.
The noise level is that of a typical school setting.## Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree in Public Health, Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist, Food Service Administration OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
* Training in food service or a combination of education and experience that issimilar and appropriate.
* Experience in Head Start program (preferred).
* Ability to control food supply.
* Ability to cooperate successfully as a member of a team.
Minimum
Competencies:
* Working knowledge of basic internet applications and programs including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs for this position.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
* Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability.
* Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers.
* Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary).
* Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
* Valid identification and reliable transportation.
* Child Care Licensing Background check
Travel Requirements:
* Ability to travel to various sites.
Work Hours:
