Support Staff – LRE Special Education Paraprofessional –
High School

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the administrators, the paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to high school students.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Possess an associate’s (or higher) degree or completed two years of study at an institution of higher education or completed ETS Parapro Assessment. This is within the guidelines for the requirements for the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven organizational skills
  • Demonstrated success as a collaborator and proven team player
  • Demonstrated successful communication skills with students, staff, parent and community
  • Desired Characteristics:

  • Previous experience working with children
  • Instructional aide experience and clerical skills
  • Experience working with at risk students preferred
  • Interest /aptitude in secondary math and science
  • Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
  • Duties:

  • Assist high school students in classroom individually and in small groups
  • Support educational objectives as given by the teacher
  • Maintain student information
  • Work independently and cooperatively with administrators and teachers
  • Provides individual assistance with work assignments
  • Ability to plan and organize; good work habits
  • May need to lift and physically redirect students
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
