Motor City Seafood Company is looking for a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Warehouse Receiver to join our team.
This position is responsible for receiving incoming seafood, specialty meat, and related products; inspecting shipments for quality and accuracy; entering and maintaining inventory information; and ensuring products are properly handled and stored.
The ideal candidate is someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, can handle colder temperatures, pays close attention to detail, is comfortable working independently & with a team, and takes pride in keeping accurate inventory records and an organized warehouse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Receive incoming shipments of seafood, specialty meat, and related products.
- Inspect incoming products for quality, quantity, temperature, condition, labeling, and overall accuracy
. - Compare received product against purchase orders, packing slips, and other receiving documentation.
- Identify and report shortages, overages, damaged product, temperature concerns, or other discrepancies.
- Accurately enter received products, quantities, weights, and other required information into the company's inventory system.
- Properly label, organize, and put away incoming products in designated cooler, freezer, and warehouse locations.
- Follow proper procedures for handling refrigerated and frozen products to maintain product quality and food safety.
- Assist with inventory counts and investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Communicate promptly with management, purchasing, sales, and warehouse personnel regarding receiving issues or product discrepancies.
- Operate electric pallet jacks, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area and warehouse.
- Follow all company food safety, sanitation, HACCP, OSHA, and other applicable procedures and requirements.
- Complete required receiving paperwork, logs, and temperature documentation accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Accurately enter information into inventory and receiving systems.
- Use Microsoft Excel and other computer programs for inventory tracking, reports, and daily tasks.
- Review spreadsheets and other documents for accuracy.
- Maintain organized records.
This is a full-time position
.
The receiving department typically operates during early morning and daytime hours. The schedule may vary based on delivery schedules and business needs. Weekend hours may be required.
Candidates must be dependable and willing to adjust their schedule when unexpected or late deliveries require additional receiving support.
PAY & BENEFITS- $20.00 per hour

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous warehouse, receiving, inventory, or distribution experience preferred
- Food, seafood, or refrigerated/frozen warehouse experience is a plus
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, labels, and other receiving documentation
- Ability to accurately perform basic math involving quantities, weights, and inventory
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with others

- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

- Electric pallet jack certification is preferred but not required - training is available
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy products and equipment
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods of time
- Ability to safely perform physical warehouse duties throughout the workday
