Under the direction of the Director, Construction & Development, the Senior Project Manager, Construction and Development is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and direction for construction management activities on projects to ensure they are on time, budget, schedule, cost, and project performance to prevent any deviations from the contract requirements. Projects may include large‑scale tribal, casino, hotel, entertainment, retail, restaurant, parking or other mixed‑use venues.
The role involves major and minor remodels, property and office renovations and new construction projects within and related to the casino facilities and hotel properties. He/she assists in the planning and direction of day‑to‑day operations and long‑term strategic direction of construction projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages and administers project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures, providing oversight of project logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization. Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting, and resource identification. Reviews and approves project accounting functions including budget management and cost tracking, minimizing exposure and risk. Ensures construction activities follow the predetermined schedule.Communicates effectively with contractors responsible for various project phases. Oversees coordination among architects, consultants, contractors, sub‑contractors, and laborers. Monitors progress regularly, visits work sites using a company vehicle, and holds status meetings with sub‑teams.Prepares and submits budget estimates, progress and earned‑value reports, and cost‑tracking analyses. Maintains strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards. Performs regular inspections of construction sites to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and regulations.Ensures effective contract administration, including generation, review, management, and monitoring of prime contracts, sub‑contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and related documentation. Establishes internal controls at each stage. Identifies design and construction elements likely to lead to disputes or claims. Acts as a key link with clients and reviews deliverables. Negotiates contracts and revisions with architects, suppliers, and subcontractors.Develops and implements quality‑control programs. Responds to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites. Investigates damage, accidents, or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed.Plans, organizes, and directs activities related to construction of structures, facilities, and systems. Evaluates construction methods and determines cost‑effectiveness. Assists in drafting specifications for construction, repair, or modification projects for selection and award of contracts. Prepares Requests for Proposal and Requests for Quotes.Coordinates capital construction activities, ensuring all phases meet specifications and minimize disruption to the Reservation or Casino. Prepares bid analyses and prepares vendor recommendation action items for approval and contracting. Monitors activity to meet budget, time frames, and compliance with requirements. Documents activities and reviews construction‑related information for completeness.Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient operation of the department.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in architecture, development, engineering, or construction management is required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive, responsible experience on a construction management team supervising or managing high‑impact construction projects.
- Experience with large remodel and casino‑based projects is highly desired.
- Relevant, direct experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum educational requirement.
