Overview
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Management, the Assistant Manager, Environment provides comprehensive operational support to all departmental divisions. This role assists in the strategic implementation of Tribal environmental programs, ensuring rigorous compliance with Tribal, federal, and state regulations while safeguarding the community’s natural and cultural heritage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES319, CWA
106 grants, ensuring that all grant requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies or related field required.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in environmental related field required.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
(KSA)
- Knowledge of tribal and federal regulatory publications, including the ability to determine if and when the requirements of these publications are not being met. These publications include, but are not limited to, Environmental Protection Agencies General Assistance Program, The Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Water Act, and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act.
- Knowledge of San Manuel Band of Mission Indians cultural resources, natural resources, native plant species, endangered species and invasive species preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook) required.
