TIG Welder
Location:
Highland, IL
Utilize all skills necessary to manufacture and build a variety of products and vehicles to meet specifications, quality and deadlines. In this position, most welding is performed on 0.080 – 0.25-inch aluminum or 22 – 16-gauge stainless steel.
This work environment is dynamic and versatile in nature, where employees are expected to wear multiple hats and handle a variety of tasks. This role requires a high level of adaptability, as daily tasks and priorities may shift based on the evolving needs of the day.
Primary Responsibilities:- Perform TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum.
- Prepare materials by cleaning, cutting, grinding, polishing, and fitting components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering designs, and manufacturing orders.
- Fabricate material by cutting and welding various metals.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and dimensional accuracy.
- Operate power and hand tools such as arc welders, buffing machine, chop saws and a shear.
- Must be safety conscious with good housekeeping skills.
- Work under moderate supervision with the ability and discretion to deviate from standard procedure, if needed.
- Work from verbal and written instructions.
- Repair defective welds and perform rework when necessary.
- Willing to offer solutions and ideas to supervisors, engineers, and team members.
- High School diploma, Trade school or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in TIG Welding.
- Must demonstrate a consistent work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and welding specifications.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Must be safety conscious with good housekeeping skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to work overtime when needed.
Skills:
- Certification or training in welding, sheet metal fabrication or a related discipline.
- Fabrication experience preferred.
- Brake press operation and manual brake experience.
- Physical ability to stand up to 8+ hours per day.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
- Ability to use Respiratory protection as needed.
