Allied Instrumentation is seeking an Instrumentation Service Technician to support the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial process instrumentation throughout the Midwest. This role combines both shop and field service responsibilities, providing a unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of instrumentation and control systems across multiple industries.

In the shop, technicians assemble, wire, test, and configure control panels and instrumentation for customer projects. In the field, technicians travel to customer facilities to perform commissioning, calibration, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on industrial instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow, and gas detection systems.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong electrical or instrumentation background who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and expanding their knowledge of industrial automation and process control.

This position offers strong earning potential well beyond the base wage, with realistic annual earnings of $80,000 - $100,000 and the opportunity to earn more through overtime, travel, and additional incentives.

Responsibilities:
Field Service
  • Travel to customer facilities throughout the Midwest to install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and functional testing on pressure, temperature, level, flow, and gas detection instruments.
  • Diagnose electrical, electronic, and process control issues while providing effective solutions.
  • Complete accurate service reports, calibration records, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and equipment upgrade opportunities with customers.
Shop Operations
  • Assemble, wire, test, and inspect industrial control panels from electrical schematics and layout drawings.
  • Configure and test instrumentation for customer orders prior to shipment.
  • Perform quality control inspections and document final testing.
  • Work closely with engineering to resolve design or wiring issues and improve product quality.
Customer Support
  • Serve as a technical resource for customers by explaining repairs, calibration results, maintenance recommendations, and equipment upgrades.
  • Coordinate service activities with the Service Manager, Inside Sales, and Outside Sales teams.
  • Identify opportunities for additional products or services that improve customer reliability and performance.
  • Build strong customer relationships through professionalism and exceptional service.
Safety
  • Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all required customer safety certifications and training necessary to access industrial facilities.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree (AAS) in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • Experience working with industrial instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, or process automation preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
