Finance and Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee staff doing daily accounting and the general ledger for all entities and partnerships in Quick Books and Yardi.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close and produce timely financial statements and project/property reports.
• Maintain accurate records by property/project, including development costs, loans, equity, and distributions.

Cash Forecasting & Management

• Build and maintain cash flow forecasts for the operating company and capital invested in real estate partnerships.
• Track cash and bank accounts across entities and projects, monitor obligations, and provide regular cash position reporting.

Budgets, Capital & Partnerships

• Lead budgeting for the company and properties; report on budget vs. actual results.
• Track capital calls, contributions, distributions, and returns; provide clear capital and performance reporting by partnership/project.

Tax Support & Compliance

• Prepare tax‑ready schedules and documentation for each entity and partnership.
• Coordinate with external tax accountants on partnership and entity tax filings (including K‑1 support).

Processes, Systems & Controls

• Design and improve simple, scalable, and where possible automated processes for reporting, tracking, and cash management.
• Enhance use of Quick Books and Yardi and implement practical internal controls in a lean real estate environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including strong GL and month‑end close.
• Experience in real estate, development, property management, or multi‑entity/project‑based environments.
• Strong GAAP knowledge for outside agencies, although we don’t use GAAP internally; proven experience with financial statements and cash flow forecasting.
• Proficiency with Quick Books and familiarity with Yardi; strong Excel and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and communicate clearly with owners, lenders, and external CPAs.

Preferred

• Real estate development accounting experience (construction draws, capitalized costs, interest).
• Experience with partnerships and K‑1s; process automation exposure.

CPA/CMA or similar credentials (nice to have, not required).
