The GT Coordinator collaborates with staff and administration to oversee the identification, support, and programming of gifted and talented students across K–12. This role focuses on compliance with state and district requirements, meaningful engagement with students’ strengths and interests, and leadership in professional learning to support differentiated instruction through Problem Based Learning (PBL).
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the K–12 identification process for gifted and talented students in accordance with Colorado’s Exceptional Student Education Act and DCSD requirements.
- Lead the development, implementation, and annual updates of Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs) for all identified gifted students, including strength-based and affective goals.
- Collaborate with K–8 classroom teachers to enrich, differentiate, and extend curriculum and instruction that supports both academic and affective growth for GT students.
- Monitor and report student progress toward ALP goals, ensuring alignment with district timelines and state expectations.
- Serve as a resource and instructional coach for faculty regarding best practices in gifted education and Problem Based Learning.
- Facilitate professional development sessions and parent education nights to increase understanding of GT programming and differentiation strategies.
