Assistant Preschool Director – Faith Based Preschool within St. Andrew United Methodist Church
St. Andrew is a large, joyful, vibrant Preschool in which children, families, and staff are engaged and valued. It is part of a larger church community dedicated to progressive theology, inclusivity, community, and outreach, in which the Preschool is celebrated. The Assistant Preschool Director is part of a team working to integrate the Preschool more deeply into the church’s ministries.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Director in Ensuring the Preschool’s compliance with current licensing requirements under Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Douglas County Health Department and Colorado Shines Rating system.
- Make sure the preschool facilities, classrooms and outdoor spaces are maintained and improved as necessary.
- Order materials as necessary for the preschool and classrooms.
- Keep preschool classrooms enrolled and viable. Advertise and Tour the school as needed with potential families.
- Maintain and update confidential Files/Database of children
- Conduct nurse visits
- Maintain Health/Vaccine records and keep up to date - Maintain Before and After Care Availability/prepare and send out Before and after care calendars/create rosters
- Communicate with parents via brightwheel app, meetings, emails, phone, handbook, social media regularly.
- Ensure Parent paperwork, children's physicals and immunization records are in compliance.
- Assume the role of Director in their absence
- Assist with Registration, Class placement and maintaining enrollment
- Teach in the classrooms as needed
- Assist Director in conducting Staff Trainings and August Staff orientation/Training
- Schedule and coordinate school functions i.e. graduation, Breakfast Buddies,
- Purchase Snack and Supplies for School and Supply Room
- Must be Director Qualified in Colorado Required
- Strong Early Childhood Education experience preferred
- Ability to Supervise, hire, train and mentor paid and volunteer staff.
- Excellent Leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal skills with children and adults.
- Possess or able to get a valid CPR, First Aid certificate, Medication Administration Certification,
- Understanding of CIIS system preferred
Ability to lift, hold and carry children and supplies weighing a maximum of 40 pounds.
Requirements- Hours:
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM M-F during school year - Year- round position
- Director Qualifications in Colorado must be up to date.
- Director Qualified in Colorado Required
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Required
- 5 years+ of experience preferred in Preschools, with demonstrated history of successfully directing a growing, vital, play-based Preschool with strong family engagement
