Dean of Academic Services

This position offices in-person, on campus

ROLE SUMMARY

The Dean of Academic Services at Valor Christian High School provides leadership and direct oversight of Academic Services, including 9th Grade Seminar, the Valor Tutoring Center, Accommodations, and Academic Management, ensuring high-quality academic support, instructional excellence, and successful student outcomes. This position leads curriculum development, instructional planning, assessment alignment, and continuous program improvement for 9th Grade Seminar and Academic Management while coaching and developing team members across the department.

The Dean collaborates with the Academic Leadership Team, Student Affairs Team, Department Chairs, Academic and College Counseling Team, Admissions Team, and families to strengthen student support, oversee academic interventions, and advance school-wide academic goals through programs aligned with Valor Christian’s mission.

Academic Services Oversight
  • Responsible for the direct management of all Academic Services including: 9th Grade Seminar, the Valor Tutoring Center, Accommodations, and Academic Management, as well as the supervisory oversight of team members within these areas

  • Lead the 9th Grade Seminar and Academic Management departments by managing programs, courses, and content, coaching faculty, fostering collaboration, and ensuring high-quality instruction aligned with department goals and school-wide expectations

  • Provide strategic leadership for curriculum development by designing, implementing, and continuously improving student outcomes, Biblical worldview integration, course offerings, scope and sequence, curriculum guides, vertically aligned assessments, lesson plans, and instructional resources for both the year-long and summer Freshman Seminar programs while ensuring consistent alignment among these elements

  • Observe, evaluate, and coach team members through regular observations and actionable feedback including performance reviews and goal-setting that promotes excellence and professional growth

  • Lead onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing support of team members to ensure successful integration into Valor's culture, mission, and instructional expectations

  • Oversee summer academic support programming, including staffing, student identification and placement, and enrollment in remediation, intensive, Freshman Seminar, Tutoring, and Academic Management courses.

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the ACT Test Prep programs and tutoring, and collaborate with the Academic Leadership Team regarding testing data and curriculum needs
