Environmental Permitting Technical Manager

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Technical Manager to join our Energy Transition team to support and grow our expanding business across the Energy market in the Western US. This position will include leading client development and project delivery. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities.

As an Environmental Permitting Technical Manager, you will manage the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders. This includes leveraging existing client relationships, leading and supporting client account teams, and leading pursuits and proposal development. You will network with clients to understand their needs and develop solutions, track regional market trends and landscapes in the Energy market, and participate in market-facing events to increase Arcadis’ presence.

You will also be responsible for program and project delivery for environmental permitting projects, working as the client point of contact and responsible for overall technical and financial performance, including project management responsibilities for scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and change. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and market familiarity with permitting of energy and power sector projects in the Western US, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act, and will provide senior level quality assurance/quality control for client deliverables.

The client development aspect represents 50% of this role; the program and project delivery aspect represents the remaining 50%. Both internal and external travel will be required, estimated at 10-15%.

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, geology, water resources, or similar environmental discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of total experience in the environmental consulting industry.
• 10 years of experience managing environmental permitting projects, technical teams, schedules/budgets, and the delivery of high‑quality work products.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating with Western federal, state, and local natural resource permitting agencies in the development of regulated utility and private development projects in the energy and power sectors.
• Ability to lead environmental permitting projects that may incorporate multi‑disciplinary teams including natural resources, engineering, cultural resources, NEPA, siting, public outreach, and other technical professionals.
• Demonstrated experience leading client development activities, including the sourcing of project opportunities, participation in industry networking events, and direct client relationship building.

The salary range for this position is $,200. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
