Systems Engineer - System Safety Engineer

Description

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Experienced Systems Engineer for its Denver, Colorado facility, focused on System Safety Engineering.

• Analyze hardware and software to establish and maintain system safety requirements.
• Support the Systems Engineering team throughout the system lifecycle.
• Conduct detailed trade studies.
• Allocate requirements and perform interface definition studies.
• Translate customer requirements into hardware and software requirements.
• Support System Integration and verification/validation of system requirements.
• Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
• Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings.
• Develop and/or update System Safety documents to support Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements.
• Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements.
• Coordinate with test range safety teams and write range safety reports to support testing.
• Develop and maintain a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) to document hazards and mitigations.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in Systems or Software Engineering.
• Experience with development, documentation, and verification of system requirements.
• Knowledge of System Safety design and operations safety principles, including hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation, and related documentation.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Experience using NASA-STD-8719.13, NASA-STD-3001, NASA-STD-1006, MIL-STD-882E, RCC‑319/324, SSCMAN 91‑710, or other relevant safety standards.
• Experience defining safety requirements, influencing design to integrate safety requirements, and verifying safety requirements.
• Software system safety experience.
• Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups.
• Familiarity with MBSE.
• Familiarity with DOORs.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Effective communication skills for group meetings and interactions with development organizations and customers.
• Experience using System Safety Standards.

Annual base salary range: $73,400 - $129,260 (varies by location). Salary is a guideline.

9x80 schedule (every other Friday off).
