Senior Network Engineer - WAN & SD-WAN

Job Description

Global Network Engineering is responsible for the strategy, architecture, design, support, and reliability of Visa Inc.'s networks. Network Engineering also shares responsibility with information security for network access and security compliance of all networks. In this role, you will be responsible for the data center design, engineering, and support of IP networks for Visa’s Debit Processing Services (DPS) and Latin America and Caribbean commercial network infrastructure.

• Plan, design, implement and support network systems of moderate complexity in the commercial network environment.
• Support WAN connections and determine capacity requirements for new business or requirements.
• Provide network design documentation to project teams, peers, and network support organizations.
• Provision new client processing by completing the necessary network updates and providing technical assistance to clients in support of network changes.
• Perform third-level support within Visa to resolve network issues and provide guidance to other Visa teams involved in network troubleshooting.
• Work with Cybersecurity to ensure Visa security standards are met and provide technical assistance for investigation and analysis of security events.
• Provide recommendations to the management team to increase effectiveness of client connectivity.
• Seek opportunities to improve network management through automation and AI.
• Design, implement, and provide ongoing support of Visa’s data center LAN infrastructure using platforms such as Cisco, Arista.
• Gather network requirements for key business initiatives, produce high-level and low-level design documentation, provide cost estimates and timelines.
• Implement network solutions in a fast-paced environment while ensuring business-critical systems are not impacted during maintenance windows.
• Work closely with Information Security Office to meet Visa Technical Security Requirements and key control policies.
• Work closely with the network QA team to test and certify new designs in non-production environments before deployment.
• Provide third-level technical support to Visa clients and internal technical teams.
• Provide highest level of technical consultancy to resolve issues in the shortest possible time frame.

• Basic: 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Preferred: 3+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's degree, or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
• Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 3-5 years of work experience and a Bachelor's Degree or 2 years with an Advanced Degree, or 1 year with a PhD.
• Network design and engineering experience on customer-facing networks.
• Automation/scripting experience (Ansible, Python, Perl, etc.).
• IP networking switching and routing in MPLS based networks, familiarity with DMVPN in HA setting.
• Experience with OSPF, BGP, IPSec, SSL, HSRP, VRRP, NAT.
• Familiarity with AI to facilitate automation.
• Experience deploying and using SDWAN technologies such as Silverpeak, Versa.
• Experience working on connectivity solutions on public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP.
• Experience with managed services operating models.
• Good interpersonal, leadership, written and verbal communication skills.
• ITIL certification or basic understanding.
• Experience creating low-level design documentation including Visio diagrams.
• Experience leading projects (planning, documentation, implementation).
• Ability to meet deadlines and commitments in multitasking environment.
• Experience with network management tools such as Netbrain, Net Scout.
• Experience in financial and/or technology-related businesses desirable.

This is a hybrid position. Days in office will be confirmed by the hiring manager. Work hours vary based on department needs.

Requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Will be performed in an office setting. Requires sitting and standing at a desk, communicating in person and by telephone, and operating standard office equipment.
