Northwest Bible Church is a non-denominational, Bible-centered, evangelical church located in Hilliard, Ohio, a growing suburb on the northwest side of Columbus. The church is led by Lead Pastor Anthony Fusco, who came to Northwest just over two years ago, and is now leading the church through a season of cultural clarity, renewed expectations, and new vision. Northwest meets weekly on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. and currently sees around 1,000 in attendance.

The church operates within a complementarian framework and holds a high view of Scripture, emphasizing discipleship, family leadership, and the role of the local church in spiritual formation. Northwest places significant value on partnering with parents and equipping families to lead spiritually in the home, with each ministry area serving as a key extension of that mission.

The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Worship Pastor to oversee their worship ministry. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Worship Services

  • Plan, lead, and coordinate the musical elements of all worship services, including Sunday morning services, special events, and seasonal services such as Easter and Christmas.
  • Authentically lead worship in a way that honors God, deeply connects with the congregation, and supports the preaching of the Word.
  • Oversee the creation, communication, and execution of worship setlists, ensuring they complement the service’s theme and Scripture.

Team Development and Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and empower a vibrant volunteer worship team including vocalists, musicians, instrumentalists, and production team members.
  • Cultivate a culture of leadership development, empowering team members to lead, mentor others, and deepen their spiritual commitment.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care to the worship team, creating a culture of accountability, growth, and unity.

Worship Ministry Planning

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor and church staff to plan worship services that align with sermon series, special events, and seasonal services.
  • Select worship elements and songs that reflect the church’s theological beliefs, cultural context, and doctrinal accuracy.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of worship, including sound, lighting, and multimedia, in collaboration with the Production Director to enhance the worship experience.

Pastoral Care and Administration

  • Provide pastoral care and support to worship team members, offering encouragement and prayer as needed.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and contribute to church-wide initiatives and ministries.
  • Manage the worship ministry budget and oversee scheduling, communication, and ministry planning for the worship team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A humble, teachable spirit with the maturity to set aside personal preferences when the congregation’s needs call for it, and a genuine conviction that leading worship is shepherding people, not showcasing talent.
  • A growing and deeply personal relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by spiritual disciplines, a daily commitment to prayer and Scripture, and a lifestyle that reflects genuine maturity and integrity.
  • Fully aligns with Northwest’s theology, Core Values, and leadership philosophy, and upholds the church’s policies and membership commitments.
  • Strong vocal ability and instrumental proficiency, preferably on guitar, with the confidence to lead a full band and provide clear musical direction to a volunteer team at varying skill levels.
  • Proven track record of building and sustaining a healthy team culture, developing volunteers with patience and genuine care, and leading people where they are rather than where you wish they were.
  • Experience navigating the tension between personal artistic preference and what actually serves the room.
  • High stage presence with the ability to lead a congregation into genuine worship through authentic, confident, and engaging platform leadership.
  • Organized enough to manage worship scheduling, budgeting, setlist planning, and volunteer communication without heavy oversight.
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in music, worship ministry, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of three years of full-time worship leading experience at a mid-sized church required.
