Job Description & How to Apply Below

Cool Tech Girls  (CTG) is dedicated to inspiring school‑age girls to pursue STEM careers by fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. By connecting participants with role models, mentors, and practical opportunities, CTG helps young girls develop their skills, interests, and career networks. The organization is committed to promoting gender equity, combating biases, and empowering girls to become leaders capable of driving positive change.

Focused on empowering the women of Central Ohio, CTG aims to support academic success, financial independence, and representation in leadership roles.

Thanks to Battelle grant funding, CTG will be partnering with up to 10 schools across Central Ohio to bring STEM education to 200 students in 2026. Two instructors will work together for each cohort of about 20 students, ranging from 4th‑11th grade.

  • No previous tech or coding experience is required of students.
  • The Techno Challenge workshops will teach students sensor, AI, and programming technologies and possible real‑world applications, with the program culminating in a final project in which students will create and present their own prototype using what they have learned to help overcome a challenge for people with disabilities or unique needs. The final project sessions include coaching, work time, and presentations.
Goals
  • Students will become comfortable and consistent self‑advocates.
  • Students will perceive problems as opportunities.
  • Students will feel capable of solving problems in their lives and in their communities.
  • Students will feel inquisitive about, excited by, and familiar with STEM tools including Python and sensors.
  • Students will feel an increase of empathy for people with different abilities.

Interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis as applications are reviewed.

Key Responsibilities of Instructor Training Overview
  • On‑demand videos and slide decks will be required for independent training of each instructor, followed by live video meetings for questions and answers with program staff.
  • Videos and slides are segmented by workshop/day that they will be taught and will take 2‑5 hours depending on the instructor’s pacing.
Program Logistics
  • Maintain accurate attendance sign‑in and sign‑out logs.
  • Communication with parents and legal guardians regarding workshop schedule.
  • Emails, texts, or other forms of communication may be needed with various stakeholders (school leaders, families, CTG staff).
Teaching
  • Provide engaging, hands‑on lessons that are pre‑planned by CTG staff.
  • Effectively and knowledgeably answer questions students ask during lessons and workshops.
  • Work with their co‑instructor to set up, teach, and clean up each workshop.
  • Effective and respectful classroom management of students in your care.
  • Serve as a positive role model to students.
  • Establish routine structures for students.
  • Can improvise, adapt, and take initiative when needed by paying close attention to student needs.
Qualifications (Required)
