We have an immediate opening for a Field Engineer in the Hilliard, OH region.

As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will provide full life‑cycle support to AWS data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You are the go‑to engineering resource for your region, using your subject‑matter expertise to engage with diverse teams and solve complex issues. Your responsibilities include:

• Perform design and equipment submittal review for new data centers in your region.
• Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and create corrective action (CA) documentation for site and equipment failures.
• Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment and event support.
• Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
• Interface with internal data center design engineering team, server hardware team, and environmental health & safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographic regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering site audits within Amazon’s owned or colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks and recommended mitigations and remediation.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects and support construction, commissioning, and turnover.

Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable personal transportation by start date. This position requires that the selected candidate be a U.S. citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

• Possess strong engineering judgment and can provide recommendations despite uncertainty.

• Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (Operations, Controls, Construction, Design, Commissioning, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers).

• Be excited about a mix of office and field work.

• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of power systems, fluid dynamics, or thermodynamics.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
