Lead Water Treatment Mechanic

As a Lead Water Treatment Mechanic, you will be responsible for leading service mechanics to maintain and operate water and wastewater treatment systems and related infrastructure. You will lead technical maintenance tasks and projects to support optimal plant operations.
Responsibilities- Oversee complex maintenance, repair, and installation of pumps, motors, valves, blowers, chemical feed systems, and other treatment equipment.
- Read blueprints and P&’s; apply electrical knowledge, plumbing skills, instrumentation, and field set‑up and commissioning.
- Diagnose equipment and system issues.
- Plan and execute preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
- Coordinate operations staff to support continuous plant performance and efficiency.
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to technical staff.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to water operations, including production data, maintenance logs, and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
- Provide guidance and training to entry‑level technicians and staff professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or relevant work experience in lieu of a degree; additional certification or training in water treatment operations is preferred.
- 5–10 years of hands‑on water and/or wastewater treatment experience.
- Thorough knowledge of water/wastewater treatment theory.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex water systems to ensure zero downtime.
- Understanding of health and safety planning.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications for data management and reporting.
Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. Anticipated salary range is $68,536 per year to $100,568 per year.
