Cleared Engineering Operations Technician, ADC Infra Ops DCEO
The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is Amazon’s front‑line responder for electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. This role covers equipment such as stand‑by diesel generators, switchboards, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. EOTs provide 24/7 shift coverage, which may include 12‑hour shifts on rotating three‑, four‑ or five‑day work weeks.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical emergency generators, fire/life safety equipment, and other critical data‑center infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.
- Perform limited maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installs, PDU, and ATS replacements.
- Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians and perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed while performing work.
- Conduct daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) through routine rounds/log‑taking.
- Use CMMS to manage building workflows and spare‑part inventory.
- Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
- Respond to after‑hour emergency calls per on‑call rotation for any site in the region.
- Comply with all physical‑security procedures and policies.
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
- 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
- Ability to manipulate small wires and objects with hands.
- Ability to walk on job sites with uneven terrain.
- Ability to work at heights and from ladders.
- Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or higher.
- 4+ years of data‑center engineering experience.
- Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low‑voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
- Experience in data‑center engineering or operating electrical/mechanical systems in a mission‑critical environment.
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Operating‑engineering licenses such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent electrical/mechanical journeyman license, CFC license (Universal or minimum Type II), or NFPA 70E certification.
This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. citizen and to currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
Salary & BenefitsBase salary range: 37.00 – 65.00 USD hourly (USA, OH, Hilliard).
