The Revenue Cycle and Health Information Clerk, under the supervision of the Patient Financial Services Business Office Manager, performs a unique blend of statutory clinical registry reporting, health information maintenance, revenue cycle validation, and customer-facing financial support. This position ensures accurate regulatory compliance for state health databases, processes documentation for continuity of care, utilizes Epic work queues to validate charge capture metrics, and provides professional front-line financial customer service to patients and the community.
Education- Required:
High School diploma or equivalent - Preferred:
Associate degree; formal coursework in Medical Terminology or Business Administration
- Minimum:
Minimum of 1 year of customer service, clerical, and/or medical office experience. - Preferred: 1-3 years within a Health Information Department, hospital billing office or medical records setting. Prior operational experience navigating integrated healthcare information networks, specifically Epic.
Foundational understanding of Release of Information (ROI) processing, medical compliance and hospital billing cycles.
- Proficient computer skills (keyboarding, basic data entry, and navigation of modern desktop operating systems). Functional proficiency in navigating Epic application systems, specifically workflow management via work queues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; analytical problem-solving abilities; demonstrated emotional self-control during high-stress customer interactions.
