Position: Administrative Support Specialist (Multiple Opportunities)

Administrative Support Specialist

Help support the services that keep Hillsboro growing and thriving. The Economic & Community Development Department is seeking two Administrative Support Specialists who will play a key role in supporting customers, staff, and operations across the department. Whether assisting residents at the Permit Center or helping support development-related activities, you'll contribute to meaningful work that impacts the community every day.

The Economic & Community Development Department supports Hillsboro's growth by guiding development, supporting local businesses, maintaining critical infrastructure, and helping shape a vibrant and livable community. Through collaboration, innovation, and customer service, the department helps ensure Hillsboro remains a great place to live, work, and invest.

While both positions share the same classification and salary range, each supports a different area of the department and offers a unique work experience.

As an Administrative Support Specialist, you'll provide administrative, customer service, and operational support that helps keep the department running efficiently. Depending on assignment, you'll support Permit Center operations, Building Division activities, records management, customer inquiries, project coordination, and other essential departmental functions.

Support continued growth and development activity throughout the City of Hillsboro.

Assist with department initiatives that improve customer service and operational efficiency.

Support records management and document retention projects.

Contribute to process improvements that enhance services provided to residents, businesses, and development partners.

Spanish-English bilingual skills are strongly preferred to support our diverse community and enhance customer service.

High school diploma or GED

Three (3) years of office support, administrative support, customer service, or related experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position

Valid, current Driver's License and safe driving record

Onsite position located at the Civic Center

Monday – Friday schedule

Regular interaction with customers, staff, and community members

Frequent computer and telephone use

Primarily office-based work environment

May require occasional lifting and movement of files, records, or office materials
