Position Title: Instructional Assistant – Bilingual (Spanish)
Department: Early Learning
Location: antkwak Early Learning Center (Hillsboro)
Reports To: Principal or Coordinator
Compensation: $22.39 – $26.73 per hour, DOE
General DescriptionUnder the overall supervision of the building principal and direct instruction of early learning or special education teachers, the instructional assistant carries out program activities as planned by licensed personnel. Duties include implementing activities related to students’ IEPs or IFSPs, monitoring safety and behavior, and supporting classroom instruction in individual and small groups. Responsibilities vary by the age of students served and their needs.

- Regular communication with supervisor and colleagues
- Proficiency in computer and internet-based applications, including Google Suite and MS Word
- Ability to work effectively under direction and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license, CPR, and blood borne pathogen training
- Provide instruction under the direction of a licensed educator
- Communicate in English and Spanish with learners and families
- Translate teacher notes for families and vice versa
- Demonstrate cultural competence for Spanish‑speaking English language learners
- Assist teachers with student assignments, grading, and record maintenance
- Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and aid in developing social skills
- Maintain required data and records
- Assist students with toileting needs as directed
- Maintain safety and monitor behavior during recess, class, and transportation
- Participate in restraint training as required
- Attend staff and team meetings
- Maintain confidentiality
- Act proactively on health and safety matters
- Communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders at all levels
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Wash and dry children’s clothing as needed
- Wash dishes and toys as advised
- Sanitize desks, tables, and child items as advised
- Arrange classroom furniture as advised
