Description:

Do you believe strong families build strong futures? We re seeking a Family Services Teacher to create engaging learning experiences while building meaningful partnerships with families to promote school readiness, family well-being, and lifelong success. This unique role blends high-quality early childhood education, family engagement, and community collaboration to ensure children and families receive comprehensive, inclusive support in a safe and nurturing environment.

This position is under an Advanced Placement rate and all new hires receive $26/hour for a Step 9 or $32/hour for a Step 10.

Abbreviated Duties List:
  • • Support multiple classroom teams to create a learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging, community, purpose, and agency.
  • • Collaborate with the Teacher in utilizing Creative Curriculum to create an environment conducive to learning, reflective of the different stages of child development, responsive to cultural backgrounds, and inviting to children and families. Collect and record objective child observations, support with the planning and implementation of the curriculum and individualized education services to the children in the class.
  • • Ensure children with mental health and/or special needs are successfully included in the classroom and community; work with Early Childhood Special Education staff and partners to identify and provide appropriate services.
  • • Provide relationship-based support to assist families in skill development to achieve their family goals including regular follow-up to identify progress or barriers to progress.
  • • Support the Teacher in developing and implementing weekly lesson plans; collecting and recording objective child observations; support with the planning and implementation of the curriculum and individualized education services to the children in the class.
Abbreviated Requirements:


  • Education:

    Minimum of an Associate of Early Childhood Education or equivalent; sufficient to be placed at Step 9 or higher on the Oregon Registry.


  • Experience:

    Minimum of one year experience teaching in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program in the care of children aged 6 weeks to 3 years and/or 3-5 years, child age experience requirement dependent upon the position the applicant is applying for.
  • • Must be able to successfully pass applicable background and Oregon Central Background Registry checks prior to new hire processing and beginning actual employment.
  • • Completion of appropriate Fit for Duty and TB Testing according to Head Start regulations prior to date of hire.
  • • Requires a valid Oregon driver s license, proof of auto insurance for private vehicle, and/or access to reliable transportation.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
  • • Two or more years of experience teaching children aged 6 weeks to 3 years and/or 3-5 years.
  • • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and another language. Ability to translate written material.
  • • Experience with and/or knowledge of Head Start.
