GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The Principal Faculty member reports to the Program Director and provides teaching, advising, and service to students, the program and the University across both the didactic and clinical components of the Physician Associate (PA) curriculum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching (assigned by the Program Director, varying by curriculum phase):

• Prepares syllabi with goals, objectives, and learning outcomes for assigned modules.
• Prepares and delivers assigned lectures using applicable instructional technology.
• Develops course materials and structure on the Moodle learning management platform.
• Reviews, evaluates, and develops appropriate assessment tools.
• Participates in text selection and other teaching modalities.
• Critiques student assignments and provides prompt, constructive feedback.
• Assesses student progress, prepares and submits final grades, and communicates with students' faculty advisors.
• Assists with student tutorial and remediation sessions.
• Participates in simulation, skills sessions, and OSCEs; instructs and supervises students in assigned clinical practice labs;evaluates students on technical skills assessments.

Advising (meets with assigned students in each cohort to):

• Review student academic and professional performance.
• Assess student readiness for the next phase of the program.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

• Takes part in accreditation activities and ongoing programmatic analysis.
• Reviews the program's mission, vision, and values statements annually.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Program Director

JOB SCOPE:

This position has no budgetary responsibility. The incumbent performs teaching, advising, and curriculum duties independently within established program curriculum, accreditation standards, and university policy, exercising professional judgment in day-to-day instructional and advising decisions. Decisions regarding overall curricular structure, new policy, or program-level changes are madein conjunction with the Program Director and the Curriculum Committee rather than unilaterally. Errors in judgment, particularly in the oversight of student assessment, or accreditation-related activities, could affect student learning outcomes, program accreditation standing, and the program's ability to meet ARC-PA requirements.

EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

• Certified PA, MD, DO, or FNP; licensed in Oregon or eligible for licensure in Oregon, obtaining an active license within 90 days ofhire.
• Master's degree or higher.
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a practicing clinician actively involved in patient care (five or more years preferred). Previous teaching and/or administrative experience is preferred
