Job Summary
The Project Engineer will be responsible for design, sizing, and layout changes required to customize our proprietary wastewater equipment to operate on various projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the generation and review of the entire submittal and fabrication package for accuracy and consistency, including timing of scheduling, fabrication, delivery, and procurement to meet client deadlines. The Project Engineer will also assist client design engineers and contractors with guidance during installation, start-up, training, and in the resolution of any issues which arise.
Working closely with multiple departments in a team environment, the Project Engineer will be responsible for the success of multiple specific projects.
This position will be a hybrid schedule out of our office in Hillsboro, OR.
Job Responsibilities- Design, sizing, and layout changes required to customize our proprietary wastewater equipment to operate on various projects.
- Perform engineering design calculations (hydraulics, structural loads, fluid mechanics, etc.) for single pieces of equipment and full systems.
- Develop working relationships with fabricators, suppliers, contractors, client engineers and other Project Engineers.
- The generation and review of the entire fabrication package for accuracy and consistency, including timing of scheduling, fabrication, delivery, and procurement to meet client deadlines.
- Utilize SAP system for issuing project purchase requisitions.
- Monitor and maintain a project budget including fabrication, outside labor, and materials.
- Assist client design engineers and contractors with guidance and product support during installation, start-up training, and the resolution of any issues which arise.
- Working closely with multiple departments (Applications, Sales, Service Technicians, Aftermarket & Finance) in a team environment to ensure successful fabrication and delivery of quality products.
- Set and manage project schedule while interacting with vendors, the internal purchasing department, contractors, and outside sales representatives.
- Assist Applications and Sales with the review of plans and specification during the proposal and bidding stages of projects.
- Prepare and obtain approval of technical submittals.
- Design required additions and upgrades to existing equipment.
- Prepare and edit documents detailing fabrication and quality control procedures.
- Apply requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 as appropriate within the areas of responsibility.
- Be responsible for the Health and Safety and Environmental aspects affecting self, employees and projects in your control.
- Other duties which the company may reasonably require the individual to undertake.
- Occasional travel (up to 25%). International travel possible.
- Establish solid equipment operation knowledge to design and detail system sequence of operations with other disciplines.
- Prepare and review submittal and fabrication drawings.
- Engineer standard and custom systems based upon customer specifications, application proposals, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&).
- Review control systems logic and function; arrange for fabrication.
- Provide installation, start-up, and warranty support.
- Provide after sales engineering and customer service support (spare parts orders, etc.).
- Perform field service and troubleshooting support.
- Inspect manufactured equipment.
- Review fabrication and proposal drawings.
- Research alternative fabrication methods to simplify and improve the manufacturing process.
- Keep O&M manuals, technical drawings, and specifications updated.
- Other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field such as engineered products/construction industry.
- Minimum of 3+ years engineering and/or project management experience preferred.
- Engineering and problem‑solving experience with strong mechanical aptitude and a working knowledge of electronics, electrical systems and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient experience with Inventor, AutoCAD and related software or similar 3‑D packages.
