Estimator
Job Description
This Estimator role focuses on preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for architectural scopes on industrial, semiconductor, clean room, and high‑tech projects. You will develop conceptual and detailed estimates, coordinate closely with preconstruction and project teams, and support value engineering and scheduling efforts to ensure projects are competitively priced, well planned, and aligned with client expectations. The position offers strong mentorship, a collaborative culture, and significant opportunities for professional growth within an employee-owned subcontracting environment.
Responsibilities
+ Support the preparation of estimates across architectural scopes for industrial, semiconductor, clean room, and high‑tech projects.
+ Develop conceptual, detailed, and self‑perform work estimates with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
+ Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of the estimating process, including pricing strategy, scheduling inputs, and final submission of bids.
+ Identify, prequalify, and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers for bid participation.
+ Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and other partners.
+ Collaborate closely with preconstruction and project teams throughout the estimating process to ensure alignment on scope, budget, and schedule.
+ Assist in establishing pricing assumptions and cost inputs for final estimates.
+ Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, cost projections, and subcontractor quote evaluations, including consideration of taxes, labor agreements, and permitting requirements.
+ Prepare and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify project scope, specifications, and requirements.
+ Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the bid and preconstruction phases.
+ Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to fully understand project scope, design intent, and technical requirements.
+ Ensure all team members remain aligned with initial project specifications and any subsequent updates or clarifications.
+ Analyze historical project data to inform current estimating strategies and improve future pricing accuracy.
+ Participate in building system evaluations and selection to support cost‑effective and technically sound design solutions.
+ Support value engineering efforts to optimize cost, constructability, and design efficiency without compromising quality.
+ Assist with project scheduling and timeline planning by providing realistic durations and resource assumptions tied to the estimate.
+ Present and defend estimates to clients and partners, clearly explaining assumptions, methodologies, and cost drivers.
+ Demonstrate strong attention to detail when working with blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction plans.
+ Work closely with senior estimators to receive training, mentorship, and feedback, and apply this guidance to continuously improve estimating practices.
+ Contribute to a culture of safety, ethical business practices, and collaborative teamwork in all interactions.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
+ 2+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably within clean room, semiconductor, facilities, or high‑tech environments.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for developing, organizing, and analyzing estimates.
+
Experience with construction estimating software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, OST, or similar platforms.
+ Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and key cost drivers.
+ Hands‑on experience performing quantity takeoffs and analyzing subcontractor bids.
+ Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, architectural plans, and specifications with a high level of detail.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
+ Analytical and problem‑solving skills to evaluate options, identify risks, and propose cost‑effective solutions.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication…
