Engineer II, Quality Engineering

Our site in Hillsboro, OR seeks an Engineer II, Quality Assurance Engineering to support the development and execution of processes that ensure products and processes meet established standards. This role applies engineering fundamentals to perform data analysis, source and qualify new metrology tools and methods, investigate quality issues, and implement corrective actions, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with internal procedures and industry requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all laboratory staff.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and maintaining adequate stock levels.
  • Partner with Engineering, Procurement, and Materials teams to ensure quality of critical raw materials and drive process improvements.
  • Develop working knowledge of all lab systems to be the process expert in lab metrology, procedures, and best practices.
  • Develop, improve, and implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results and documentation.
  • Support the Quality Manager with scheduling of testing and analyses of customer technical requests.
  • Review test results and analyses of final laboratory reports.
  • Participate in global meetings and internal initiatives such as Problem Solving, Change Management, Internal Audits, Project Development, Product Support, and Development Programs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed.
  • Work with lab and manufacturing personnel to adjust production batches and resolve quality issues.
  • Investigate and address quality complaints, identify causes, and implement corrective actions, including process improvements.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity through data validation, regular audits, and data quality checks.
  • Develop and publish key performance metrics for the health of the Entegris Quality ecosystem at the Hillsboro plant.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 1 year with a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and quality assurance tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean principles).
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.
  • Demonstrated success interacting with customers and transferring technical information.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with experience using tools such as Pareto, FMEA, SPC/SQC, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, and 8D problem solving.
  • High ownership and self‑starter ability to lead high‑impact activities and drive project outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • Experience with camLine, LIMS (Sample Manager), EtQ, and/or SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of optical comparison, CMM, automated vision systems, calipers, gage blocks, and mechanical test equipment.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or laboratory setting with strong understanding of laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards such as ISO relevant to laboratory operations.
  • Enthusiastic learner with a continuous improvement mindset.
Work Environment

The operation runs 24/7/365; support may require flexibility outside of normal business hours. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment is required.
