This position will work under the direction of the ES&T Maintenance Manager or other site leadership. You will install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components – photoeyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency converters, linear drives, tachometers, pressure, temperature and flow transmitters and lab equipment. You will lead or assist on equipment upgrades, repairs and installations as necessary.

Operations will be carried out in compliance with cGMPs, SOPs and Genentech standards. Advanced documentation skills are necessary to ensure system information is maintained at a superior level. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of cGMP compliance, predictive maintenance philosophy and techniques, fundamental operating principles of industrial process instrumentation and process control systems. Individuals should also possess the ability to read, interpret and produce engineering documents and understand P&IDs, operate Delta-V and MES systems.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot all facility instrumentation and control systems (utilities, filling, packaging, lab equipment) while ensuring proper intervals and adherence to SOPs.
  • Keep all equipment in validated operational states, compliant with Federal/State/Local regulations and cGMP requirements, with continuous evaluation for process improvements and system upgrades.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment, including confined space entry when needed, and coordinate external contractors.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and technical documentation following cGMP guidelines, identify training gaps, evaluate SOPs/drawings for accuracy, and demonstrate strong technical writing skills.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams on new installations/modifications, support system design and testing, and utilize programming software to manage calibration data and instrument programming.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical degree or certification in Instrumentation / Industrial Automation or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–4 years’ experience in instrumentation calibration and repair in a regulated industry.
  • 1–4 years’ experience in an instrument shop environment in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Proficiency with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Calibration Management Program, preferably SAP PM.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various instrumentation (pressure, level, temperature, flow, analytical instruments), control systems (DeltaV, PLCs), control valves, positioners, and lab equipment for maintenance tasks.
  • In-depth understanding of cGMP and GDP compliance and industry standards for instrumentation, electrical systems, and regulated environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, SOPs, and engineering drawings; strong record‑keeping and technical writing skills.
  • Capability to work safely in environments with hazardous chemicals, high/low temperature liquids, high‑pressure systems, electrical voltages, and moving machinery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, mathematical aptitude, and organizational abilities for effective problem solving and team collaboration.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines for multiple tasks in a fast‑paced setting with a heavy focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Practical experience in maintaining and repairing instrumentation, automation systems, and equipment in clean or regulated manufacturing facilities, alongside mechanical and electrical engineering expertise.
Benefits and Compensation

The expected salary range for this position in Hillsboro, OR is $66,900.00 – $. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
