I am currently representing a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing that is seeking a highly skilled Module Development Engineer to join their R&D headquarters in Hillsboro. This is a chance to work at the absolute bleeding edge of Moore’s Law, designing the next generation of manufacturing processes that will power the future of computing.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between theoretical pathfinding and high-volume production. You will be responsible for inventing and refining the chemical and physical processes required to build the world’s most complex microchips.
Key Technical Responsibilities- Process Innovation:
Lead the design, optimization, and scaling of advanced manufacturing modules, including material selection and equipment configuration. - Pathfinding:
Execute feasibility studies for next-generation device architectures and emerging semiconductor roadmaps. - Vendor Partnership:
Collaborate closely with world-class equipment and material suppliers to develop proprietary hardware and chemical solutions. - System Refinement:
Pilot modifications to existing tools to push the limits of efficiency and output precision. - Data-Driven Development:
Utilize theoretical modeling, simulations, and rigorous experimental methods to validate new process nodes.
- Education:
A PhD in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or similar). - Core Knowledge: A strong technical foundation in thin-film processes, surface chemistry, plasma physics, and semiconductor material behavior.
- Analytics:
Proven experience in experimental design (DOE), statistical analysis, and interpreting complex data sets. - Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced Fab environment and adheres to strict safety and contamination protocols.
- Communication:
Ability to distill complex technical findings into clear reports for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Direct experience with dry etch, pattern transfer, or logic/memory integration.
- Hands-on history with Tier-1 production tools (e.g., Lam, Applied Materials, TEL, etc.).
- Specific expertise in addressing high-aspect-ratio etching or CD control challenges.
- Proficiency in scripting or data automation via Python, JMP, or MATLAB.
- A track record of taking academic research and successfully translating it into industrial applications.
