Position: Physical Therapist (Outpatient)

Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000

Pay range: $92,102/yr - $135,408/yr

Position Summary

The Physical Therapist functions as a member of the patient care team by providing physical therapy services and is accountable for assessment, treatment, and education of patients with appropriate documentation of such care. The physical therapist is also responsible for supervising the patient care activities of physical therapist assistants, aides, students, athletic trainers, and to assist with other educational and research activities conducted by the department or hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Documents patient evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge in a complete and timely manner, using EMR.
  • Maintains patient charts in a comprehensive and legal manner with regard to local, state, and federal laws, and hospital policy.
  • Bills in congruence with documented patient treatment and assists in tracking of individual insurance requirements in accordance with proper billing practices.
  • Supervises PT assistant, aide, athletic trainer, and/or student in regards to patient care activities.
  • Achieves clinic’s established productivity standards for patient care.
  • Provides physical therapy to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages.
  • Actively participates in performance reviews.
  • Actively participates in team meetings.
  • Refers to or communicates with primary care provider and/or referring provider regarding concerns about patients as needed.
  • Communicates with vendors to help facilitate patient equipment needs.
  • Maintains certifications and licenses required to perform patient care.
  • Participates in continuing education seminars, department in-services, safety training and other educational opportunities within the hospital and community.

Decision impact limited to the employee and the wellbeing of the patient. No budget responsibilities.

  • Required: N/A
  • Preferred: Master’s or Doctor of Physical Therapy.
  • Experience
    • Required: N/A
    • Preferred: At least one (1) year of experience in outpatient rehabilitation setting.
    • Preferred: Clinical expertise in a specific area of interest.
    Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
    • Required: Current unencumbered physical therapy license in the state of Oregon or ability to obtain prior to hire.
    • Required: American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS preferred upon hire or required within first 90 days.
    • Preferred: N/A

    • Required: Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules regarding patient treatment and documentation.
    • Required: Demonstrates effective positive interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as a team.

    • Required: Practices in accordance with professional licensing laws and professional practice act.

    • Required: Utilizes appropriate physical therapy assessment, treatment and education skills.
    • Required: Prioritizes patient care appropriately, coordinating duties and clinic resources in an effective manner.
    • Required: Uses protective equipment, infection control, and disposal of hazardous waste and sharps to assure personal safety.
    • Required: Establishes clinical/professional relationships with primary care providers, patients, patients’ family members and other health care providers.
    • Required: Actively participates in patient/customer satisfaction.
    • Preferred: Bilingual skills a plus.
