AWS Global Field Operations (GFO) provides end-to-end support for AWS products and services in non-traditional environments including Outposts Services. GFO brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to data centers, co-location spaces, or customer on-premises facilities and edge sites. Customers can use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across on-premises and the AWS cloud to deliver a consistent hybrid experience.

We are looking for a GFO Technician who is an experienced and motivated Data Center Technician to install and support AWS deployments in non-traditional environments. You will maintain and operate the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure across multiple local and remote locations across the Americas.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, including data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to AWS services. We work on challenging problems with many variables impacting the supply chain and are seeking talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with teams across AWS to deliver safety and security standards while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost, and you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

This is a customer-facing role that requires strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Build relationships with internal teams and customers, innovating effective solutions to meet issues as they arise
• Conduct site assessments at various facilities to proactively prepare for onsite installation of AWS equipment
• Install/expand/provision AWS infrastructure at third-party premises, data centers, and/or non-traditional environments
• Troubleshoot network installations and configurations, perform network testing, break/fix, and decommissioning; solve complex problems
• Proactively identify and implement strategies to prevent support issues and enhance the customer experience
• Conduct day-to-day business with internal teams and external customers
• Travel up to 30% on average to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment
• Physical ability to push/pull heavy objects (regularly lift up to 18 kg; participate in team lifts of 30 kg)
• May lead or participate in developing SOPs and tools to improve operational efficiencies
• May lead larger projects requiring cross-functional alignment and support, including large-DC installations and global initiatives
• May work at height to maintain AWS infrastructure equipment, following AWS health & safety guidelines
• Maintain a passion for technology and strive for excellence in the role

• 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
• 2+ years of experience leading large complex programs
• Knowledge of networking, security, databases (relational or No
  
  SQL), operating systems (Unix/Linux/Windows)

• CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Red Hat), Microsoft hardware installation, AWS or other industry-relevant certifications
• Experience in a customer-facing environment
• Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
• Knowledge of power, cooling, cabling, networking hardware, inventory management, and automation
