LabTechnician – Associate I
UST is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Lab Technician to support data center and lab infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for hardware installation, cabling, infrastructure maintenance, and operational support to ensure a reliable, secure, and efficient lab environment for testing and enterprise IT activities.
Responsibilities- Perform rack‑and‑stack installation of servers, network devices, storage systems, and related hardware.
- Execute structured cabling for power, Ethernet, fiber, and network connectivity following industry standards.
- Monitor and support power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental conditions within the lab environment.
- Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure‑related issues and coordinate repairs or replacements.
- Conduct routine physical infrastructure inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate asset inventory, labeling, cable management, and documentation.
- Support hardware upgrades, device replacements, and decommissioning activities.
- Hands‑on experience with cabling and rack‑and‑stack activities for server and network hardware.
- Basic understanding of data center or lab infrastructure operations.
- Knowledge of power distribution, cooling concepts, and cable management best practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and physical connectivity issues.
- Familiarity with infrastructure maintenance, asset tracking, and operational procedures.
- Understanding of workplace safety, physical security, and compliance standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments including lifting and moving equipment.
- Experience working in data center, NOC, or enterprise lab environments.
- Familiarity with networking equipment, servers, and storage systems from major vendors.
- Basic knowledge of Linux, Windows, or hardware diagnostic tools.
- Exposure to IT asset management and ticketing systems.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Electronics, Networking, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in lab support, hardware operations, or data center infrastructure environments.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or data center operations certifications are preferred.
Compensation range: $40,000–$60,000 per year. Full‑time employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, 6 days of paid sick leave, 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. Employees may participate in the company’s 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. Eligible employees and their U.S. dependents receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short‑ and long‑term disability benefits.
