Overview
AWS Global Field Operations (GFO) provides end‑to‑end support for AWS products and services in non‑traditional environments including Outposts Services. GFO brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co‑location space, or customer on‑premises facility and edge sites, enabling a consistent hybrid experience across the AWS cloud and on‑prem. We are looking for a GFO Technician, an experienced and highly motivated Data Center Technician who will install and support AWS deployments in these environments.
We own the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment across locations in the Americas and beyond.
Key Job Responsibilities- Build relationships with internal teams and customers and innovate effective solutions.
- Conduct site assessments at various facilities to prepare for onsite installation of AWS equipment.
- Install, expand, and provision AWS infrastructure at third‑party premises, data centers, and non‑traditional environments.
- Troubleshoot network installations and configurations, perform testing, break/fix, and decommissioning, resolving complex problems.
- Proactively identify and implement strategies that prevent support issues and enhance the customer experience.
- Conduct day‑to‑day business, both internally and with external customers.
- Travel up to 30% on average between locations to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment.
- Physically push or pull heavy objects (lift up to 18 kg regularly; team lifts of 30 kg).
- Lead or participate in developing standard operating procedures and tools that improve operational efficiencies.
- Lead larger cross‑functional projects, including large‑DC installations and global initiatives.
- Work at height to maintain AWS infrastructure equipment while following health & safety guidelines.
- Maintain passion for technology and strive for excellence in daily work.
- Knowledge of networking, security, databases, operating systems (Unix, Linux, Windows).
- 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
- 2+ years of leading large complex programs.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware, AWS, or others.
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of related technical experience.
- Experience in a customer‑facing environment.
- Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
- Knowledge of power, cooling, cabling, networking hardware, inventory management, and automation.

Compensation and BenefitsThe base salary range is 32.00–57.00 USD hourly for USA, OR (Hillsboro) and USA, WA (Seattle). Compensation includes sign‑on payments, RSUs, and benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
