Test Architect – Aircraft Onboard Platform and Application Systems
This role combines strategic ownership, technical leadership, and hands-on execution. The Test Architect will define and continuously evolve the overall testing strategy, guide and mentor the test team, execute test plans, and design and develop automation frameworks and scripts.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable creating detailed test architecture documentation and writing automation code.
Key Responsibilities:- Own and continuously evolve the platform-wide Test Strategy Document, covering development, feature/functionality, integration, system, performance, connectivity, security, CI/CD, and certification-adjacent testing.
- Define the testing approach for each architectural layer, including platform services, applications, and data/synchronization.
- Ensure test coverage scales appropriately with architectural risk, including shared-resource isolation and third-party application sandboxing.
- Design the test environment and laboratory infrastructure strategy, including physical labs, virtualized/simulated environments, and network/connectivity emulation.
- Define entry and exit criteria, test levels, and release-gating standards throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional testing team covering functional, integration, performance, security, hardware, and environmental testing.
- Establish technical direction, standards, and best practices for test design, execution, and automation.
- Review test plans, test cases, and automation scripts developed by team members.
- Provide technical guidance and quality-gate approval.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact between the test team and architecture/engineering stakeholders.
- Translate the overall test strategy into detailed and executable test plans for each release or sprint.
- Plan and coordinate testing across multiple levels, from unit testing through system and end-to-end testing.
- Coordinate functional, integration, performance, connectivity resilience, security, and CI/CD testing activities.
- Track test execution progress, defect trends, coverage metrics, and overall quality indicators.
- Communicate release readiness and testing status to key stakeholders.
- Drive root-cause analysis and cross-application regression risk assessments for defects identified during execution.
- Design and build automation frameworks for regression, integration, and performance testing.
- Personally develop automation scripts for critical-path and high-risk scenarios.
- Develop automated testing for areas such as: cross-application resource contention, connectivity resilience under simulated network impairments, CI/CD pipeline validation, integration and regression scenarios.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines as build and release gates.
- Continuously improve automation coverage and reduce manual regression testing effort.
- Own the Jira/Xray traceability framework, including requirement-to-test-case-to-defect linkage.
- Establish and maintain appropriate test plan and test set structures.
- Support release-level reporting and traceability.
- Ensure test evidence and documentation are audit-ready, including certification-adjacent testing areas.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in software and/or systems testing.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a Test Architect, Test Lead, Principal Test Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.
- Proven experience defining test strategies for complex, multi-component, or platform-level systems rather than only single-application testing.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building test automation frameworks, not simply using existing frameworks.
- Experience with API-level automation, UI automation, and performance/load testing tools.
- Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing as build or release gates.
- Strong technical leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
