You Are:

UST is seeking a Lab Technician who acts under very minimal guidance to handle day‑to‑day operations board set up and rework of components in a semiconductor product development lab.

The Opportunity:
  • Serve as technical lead for troubleshooting and configuring
  • Train and support team with troubleshooting
  • Assemble and disassemble systems, boards, and components such as motherboards, CPUs, memory, and power supplies
  • Perform physical setup of racks, power connections, cabling, and peripheral installations
  • Support BIOS, BMC, CPLD, and firmware updates and assist in system bring‑up and smoke testing
  • Driver and network installation and configuration. (LINUX, Windows)
  • Maintain lab infrastructure including test benches, power strips, tools, and network connectivity
  • Conduct hardware‑level troubleshooting and component replacement under engineering guidance
  • Support environmental, thermal, or functional tests and collect basic validation data
  • Follow ESD safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and secure lab environment
  • Collaborate with validation engineers to prepare systems for testing and resolve setup issues
  • Assist in documentation of system configurations, test results, and issue reports
  • Support process audits, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance activities

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What You Need:
  • Experience or strong interest in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Architecture
  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in platform enabling/debug
  • 2-5 years of experience in a hardware or semiconductor lab environment
  • Experience in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Proficiency in hardware assembly, rack setup, and cable management
  • Strong knowledge of operating system installation (Windows/Linux) and driver install/setup
  • Expert knowledge with Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with firmware flashing tools (e.g., Dediprog, BAT scripts, OS utilities)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication, teamwork, and documentation abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, work on lab benches and handle ESD-sensitive components safely
  • Ability to stand while working up to 80% of the time
Desired

Skills:
  • Experience supporting semiconductor validation or platform bring‑up labs
  • Familiarity with lab asset management and tracking systems
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Python or Power Shell) for automating repetitive lab tasks
  • Knowledge of network configuration (DHCP/Static IP) and remote management tools
  • Strong working knowledge of operating systems, network environments, and PC applications

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
