Senior Procurement Specialist – Overview

Rosendin is a large employee‑owned electrical contractor that offers career growth, competitive compensation, benefits and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The Senior Procurement Specialist provides a comprehensive procurement function across commodity construction materials, electrical equipment, lighting, and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute complex and technical bid invitations or requests for proposal (RFP) that include logistics, warehousing, kitting, cutting and packaging requirements.
  • Receive, analyze and recommend approval of bids that are most advantageous to Rosendin.
  • Process difficult and unique purchasing transactions in compliance with state laws, federal statutes, company policies and procedures.
  • Assist departments with specification development and draft RFPs.
  • Review, analyze and approve all purchases where the award is not made to the low bidder to ensure justification exists and policy is followed.
  • Review, analyze, research and approve purchases of a non‑competitive nature.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to identify the source of deficiency and take corrective action.
  • Plan all aspects of purchasing from project award to close‑out.
  • Negotiate contracts and develop policies with suppliers and professional service providers.
  • Oversee execution of the purchasing buy‑out and maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Provide supervision to buyer/expeditor when necessary.
  • Provide feedback to assist in analyzing market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  • Enforce procurement policies and procedures with the project team and produce procurement analytics, reporting and deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical equipment and construction materials.
  • Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies and accounting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must exhibit supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Oracle.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities under time pressure.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and an effective team player.
  • Effective interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical construction purchasing experience.
  • Combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Working Conditions

General environment: sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Compliance with ADA and applicable state law, including reasonable accommodation for qualified disabled applicants.
