Department: Quality / Manufacturing
Reports To: Quality Supervisor / Quality Manager
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to inspect and verify precision mechanical assemblies in a semiconductor cleanroom environment. This role is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections, documenting results, and ensuring mechanical assemblies meet all quality, functional, and cleanliness requirements.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical inspection experience, is comfortable working in cleanroom gowning, and understands the importance of contamination control, ESD compliance, and strict documentation.
Key ResponsibilitiesInspection & Quality Verification
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of mechanical parts, subassemblies, and finished builds.
- Verify components meet specifications using drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Inspect assemblies for defects including damage, misalignment, missing hardware, improper torque, contamination, or cosmetic issues.
- Conduct functional checks and “go–no-go” testing to verify assembly performance.
Measurement & Tool Use
- Use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, torque tools, and other inspection equipment.
- Confirm dimensional compliance and fitment to engineering requirements.
- Identify measurement trends and report concerns to Quality and Manufacturing Engineering.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review and follow work orders, travelers, inspection plans, and bills of material (BOMs).
- Accurately record inspection results, measurements, and pass/fail findings in quality documentation systems.
- Generate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and clearly document defects, findings, and corrective actions.
- Support traceability and revision control requirements in a controlled manufacturing environment.
Cleanroom Compliance
- Follow all cleanroom protocols, including gowning, ESD procedures, and contamination-control requirements.
- Ensure inspection tools and workstations are cleanroom-approved and properly maintained.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.
Quality Support & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with production teams to support quality at the point of build.
- Assist with root cause investigations, rework verification, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) as assigned.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to reduce defects and improve yield.
- High school diploma or GED required (technical training or associate degree preferred)
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or production environments
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation
- Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to work in a semiconductor cleanroom environment, including wearing full gowning/PPE
- Familiarity with ESD handling practices and contamination control
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive inspection tasks
- Strong communication skills and ability to document findings clearly
- Prior semiconductor cleanroom experience
- Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-up concepts
- Experience with ISO-controlled or regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience with nonconformance systems, CAPA, and quality documentation tools
- Experience inspecting precision assemblies for semiconductor capital equipment
This position is based in a semiconductor cleanroom
and requires strict adherence to contamination control, ESD requirements, and quality documentation standards. The role may require extended time in full cleanroom gowning and working around sensitive components.
