Production Supervisor – Back Half Day Shift Job Description

Shift: Thursday–Saturday, 5:30 AM–6:00 PM, with rotating Wednesdays. This role is located in Hillsboro, Oregon. The Production Supervisor is accountable for meeting departmental production targets while leading a high‑performing team focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include supervising production operators, managing scheduling and workflow, and fostering an environment of teamwork, innovation, and accountability. The position partners closely with engineering and other cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth communication and seamless operations across all production shifts.

• Champion Safety: Promote and model safe work practices. Partner with EHS to deliver safety training and reinforce a strong safety culture. Monitor the work area for adherence to procedures, restrictions, cleanliness, and potential hazards.
• Lead & Develop Your Team: Ensure employees receive effective training and ongoing support. Address performance issues with proper documentation and manage performance reviews and corrective actions in a timely and consistent manner.
• Drive Operational Excellence: Provide clear communication regarding goals, expectations, and daily priorities. Collaborate with fellow supervisors, engineering, and management to keep operations aligned and efficient.
• Ensure Quality Outputs: Oversee production to ensure output meets quality standards. Support investigations of quality defects, develop and recommend corrective actions, and contribute to document updates and scrap‑reduction initiatives.
• Promote Lean & Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean/Six Sigma concepts such as SPC, Kanban, and 6S to streamline operations. Apply PDCA and visual management to optimize resource planning, schedule attainment, and daily improvements.
• Monitor Production Performance: Track hour‑by‑hour production results and escales issues promptly. Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination, and equipment/process efficiency improvements.
• Be the First Point of Contact: Provide day‑to‑day direction and respond to shift‑level concerns, including safety incidents, quality issues, and personnel matters.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing principles with the ability to quickly gain competency in your specific production module
• Ability to work modified hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills
• Ability to adapt to shifting workforce, environmental, and customer needs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrated experience leading a team

• Ability to read and write in English

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
• Five or more years of supervisory experience
• Experience with Six Sigma methodologies
