PPS is seeking a Utility Operator I for our state‑of‑the‑art fabrication facility in Hillsboro. This is a full‑time permanent position with a great starting pay rate, second‑to‑none benefits, and a high ceiling for growth!
The Utility Operator I supports daily manufacturing operations by performing part finishing and assisting operators in the saw, laser, and bending work centers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Deburr, grind, sand, and clean manufactured parts to required quality standards.
- Remove sharp edges, slag, burrs, and other surface imperfections.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials at saws, lasers, and bending equipment.
- Stage raw materials and work‑in‑process according to the production schedule.
- Help sort, count, identify, and move completed parts to the next operation.
- Perform basic inspections using drawings, work instructions, and measuring tools.
- Maintain accurate part identification and prevent parts from being mixed.
- Support machine operators with material handling, cleanup, and routine production tasks.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Report quality, equipment, or material concerns to the lead or supervisor.
- Perform other manufacturing and material‑handling duties as assigned.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to read basic work instructions and part drawings.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, grinders, sanders, and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and ability to follow the production schedule.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, noise, metal debris, and moving materials.
