Job Description

Paradigm is seeking an SMT Machine Operator to support our client, a contract manufacturer specializing in electronic manufacturing services (EMS). This is a hands-on production role responsible for setting up and operating surface-mount technology equipment, verifying materials and feeders, completing required process checks, and helping ensure electronic assemblies are produced accurately and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has prior electronics or manufacturing experience, is comfortable working with pick-and-place equipment and screen printers, can identify electronic components and part numbers, and can follow detailed build documentation and quality procedures.

Type: Up to 6-month contract-to-hire

Shift: Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM-1:30 PM, with overtime as needed

As a SMT Operator, you will
:

  • Perform kit audits to verify materials are correct and ready for machine setup and production.
  • Set up and operate pick-and-place equipment and screen printers in a production environment.
  • Verify feeder setup, load feeders, and check for material shortages before and during production.
  • Perform Caltex Paste Height measurements and required ESD checks, and accurately record results.
  • Review assembly drawings, build documentation, and new-product-introduction (NPI) information before beginning work; raise questionable or unclear information with the supervisor or team lead.
  • Monitor SMT equipment during production and promptly report machine problems to the supervisor.
  • Follow the weekly build, ship, and production schedule and alert the supervisor or team lead when scheduled work may not be completed on time.
  • Complete required SMT production paperwork and redline or report documentation discrepancies.
  • Report quality issues to the supervisor or team lead within 15 minutes of discovery.
  • Operate only equipment for which required training or certification has been completed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized production area and follow established work procedures.
Requirements

Our skills and experience wish list includes
:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in electronics manufacturing, computer components, or a related production environment.
  • Ability to identify electronic components and component part numbers.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, build instructions, and other written production documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and work within LEAN manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Ability to learn and follow ISO 9000 processes.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Must comply with applicable International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements, be free from federal warrants, and not appear on a federal watch list.
