Overview

Village Without Walls is a community-based membership organization of volunteers that provides services to help seniors and disabled individuals stay involved in their communities and remain in their own homes as they grow older. Volunteers are the heart of the Village, providing direct services to our members as well as behind-the-scenes support to operate the village. We are neighbors helping neighbors to stay neighbors.

Village Without Walls is a program of Villages NW, a 501(c)3 nonprofit TAX  , which serves as the Hub for ten Villages in formation across the Metro area. Villages NW is part of a nationwide network of support that fosters interdependent aging in community.

Village Without Walls is a community of older adults who support each other in successful living as we age. Our local seniors live in Aloha, Hillsboro, Cornelius and Forest Grove.

The Village currently needs volunteers to perform the duties of Village Driver
. For those Village members who no longer drive, we provide transportation to medical appointments, shopping and to social events. Our drivers get members where they need to go and they also provide friendly social interaction. You get to know each member's interests and history plus become friends over time. Drivers set their own schedule and availability.

Basic requirements for drivers are to

• complete Village Without Walls volunteer training
• have a valid Driver’s License with a minimum of five years driving experience and safe driving record (no suspensions in last 2 years)
• have no moving violations in last 3 years
• have no more than four non-moving violations such as Failure to Appear, License not in possession, or No Proof of Insurance/Registration
• have valid auto insurance
• have a personal vehicle which passes our vehicle check
• successfully complete the National Safety Council online Defensive Driving course
• pass the driver road test.
