Job SummaryA leading hospital facility is seeking the expertise of aNurse Manager II with Operating Room experience to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership over perioperative surgical services in a 24/7 operational hospital environment. This role directly oversees surgical specialties including Orthopedics, Gynecology (GYN), General Surgery, Plastics, and Urology.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of best practice models, patient care delivery systems, and clinical practice standards across multiple locations. Key duties include managing clinical personnel, driving quality and patient safety initiatives, overseeing departmental budgets and resource allocation, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring strict compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission (TJC), and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperating Room & Clinical Operations Leadership
- Specialty Oversight: Direct daily operations, surgical workflows, and clinical practice standards for Orthopedics, Gynecology, General Surgery, Plastics, and Urology.
- Clinical Excellence: Maintain clinical expertise and provide direct clinical supervision, delegating duties aligned with the nursing scope of practice.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with Nursing Clinical Practice, physicians, surgical teams, and external healthcare providers to ensure high-quality, safe patient care across the continuum.
- Equipment & Resources: Proactively monitor and manage the assignment, utilization, and maintenance of surgical equipment, clinical supplies, and medications across multiple units.
- Team Leadership: Direct, hire, train, coach, and evaluate talent; manage performance and build structured succession planning for clinical and support staff.

Build cross-functional relationships, solicit performance feedback, foster open communication, and motivate multidisciplinary teams to meet operational goals. - Labor Relations & HR: Assume accountability for recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, performance management, training, and labor relations within assigned units.
- Financial Stewardship: Lead the development, monitoring, and control of departmental payroll and non-payroll budgets; manage cost-control strategies and track financial commitments.
- 24/7 Operations: Oversee round-the-clock nursing care and surgical delivery models in alignment with organizational standards for cost, quality, and utilization.
- Workflow & Reporting: Develop ad-hoc reports and performance tracking metrics to analyze workflows, drive efficiency, and achieve operational targets.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead long-term strategic projects using root-cause analysis to enhance operating efficiency, clinical quality, affordability, and patient outcomes.
- Survey Readiness: Design and lead ongoing survey readiness initiatives (including mock rounds) to ensure constant compliance and audit readiness.
- Patient & Workplace Safety: Proactively drive a safe environment for patients and staff, overseeing risk management, incident remediation, and patient concern resolution.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist in designing emergency preparedness and recovery programs, ensuring all staff are fully trained on emergency protocols.
- Strategic Alignment: Partner with senior leadership to execute short- and long-term operational initiatives that support broader health system goals.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
