Starting hourly pay range: $24.25 – $26.25. Full pay range: $24.25 – $41.25.

General Merchandise Team Leader OverviewThe General Merchandise Team Leader is a manager who ensures guests receive a consistent, inspiring, and friendly experience. They lead a team of hourly team members, manage operations, drive sales, and maintain store profitability.
Responsibilities- Deliver and reinforce Target’s guest experience commitments to the team.
- Observe and coach team members, holding them accountable and recognizing excellent guest moments.
- Review performance metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and align team actions.
- Plan and execute daily/weekly department workload to meet sales and guest engagement goals.
- Oversee merchandise receiving, merchandising, pricing, and floor displays.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and product availability to support store profitability.
- Lead and support back‑room organization, picking, packing, and fulfillment tasks.
- Collaborate with other teams (closing, support, etc.) to ensure the store is ready for guests.
- Identify and develop future leaders within the team.
- Adhere to compliance, safety, and security policies and close hazards when identified.
- Occasionally assume store‑level leadership‑on‑duty responsibilities.
- Perform any other duties necessary to meet business needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Age 18 or older.
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
- Strong communication skills and ability to use handheld scanners and other technology.
- Self‑directed and collaborative work style with strong prioritization.
- Capacity to remain focused in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
- Positive, welcoming attitude toward guests and team members.
- Knowledge of cash register operations and ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 44 pounds.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
