Job Overview

Position: Lumber Contractor Sales

Salary: $61,603 – $78,403

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

Location: Hillsboro, OR

The Lumber Contractor Salesperson executes all aspects of the sales call process and strategies, primarily focusing on aggressive prospecting of new residential and commercial contractors. The role cultivates relationships with builders and general contractors, supports PARR’s sales initiatives and purchasing principles, and works independently while collaborating with corporate teams and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Execute all aspects of the sales call process and strategies, focusing on aggressive prospecting of new residential and commercial contractors.
  • Facilitate and coordinate business activities of assigned accounts and execute PARR sales initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with builders and general contractors, supporting the vision of PARR as supplier of choice.
  • Achieve aggressive sales goals and objectives.
  • Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Implement PARR sales strategies, processes, and purchasing principles.
  • Handle customer inquiries, including difficult customers, with professionalism and strong customer service.
  • Assist with product and market knowledge for builders.
  • Collaborate with corporate departments such as Central Purchasing, Account Management, Human Resources, and IT as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of sales experience; prior experience in the building materials industry preferred.
  • Proficiency with personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and related equipment.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong verbal, written, and customer‑service communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships that translate into new business.
  • Knowledge of building materials and their uses.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed aggressive sales targets.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Wearing of puncture‑resistant, slip‑resistant footwear required.
Working Conditions
  • Office-based work with occasional required travel.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions; may lift or pull up to 50 pounds over 50 feet.
  • Shift hours Monday‑Friday, 7am‑5pm, with occasional after‑hour or weekend events.
  • Regular interaction with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
