PositionAvionics Technician
Position SummaryThe Avionics Technician supports the repair station s avionics needs by installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting and repairing avionics equipment such as radio, navigation, autopilot or other control systems in aircraft.
Responsibilities- Research technical data and perform inspection, testing, adjusting, and repair of avionics equipment.
- Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
- Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness.
- Continual use of test equipment, such as comm/nav/pulse simulators, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results.
- Lay out installation of aircraft assemblies and systems, following documentation such as blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.
- Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
- Keep records of maintenance and repair work.
- Occasional travel to perform duties away from base.
- Repair and maintenance of company equipment.
- Maintain reliable, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Successful completion and favorable results of pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check.
- Adhere to all Aero Air policies and standards of conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Must maintain a valid U.S./state issued driver s license with clean driving record.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software including applications and programming.
- Strong mathematical skills and the ability to apply relating specifically to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to interact professionally with employees, vendors, and individuals at all levels of the organization and community.
- Service-oriented and able to build productive professional relationships.
- FCC General Radio Operator License preferred.
- Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.
- Garmin experience highly desirable.
- Corridor and maintenance/parts manual access software is desired.
- Experience with Lear 45, Pilatus, Phenom, Mustang and Gulfstream, or any combination of these aircraft.
- Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in related aircraft avionics.
- Working near moving mechanical parts and near fumes or airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals.
- Work is typically performed in an indoor hangar or outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times without assistance.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to read, hear, talk, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb all day.
- Accurate hand/eye coordination.
- Finger dexterity and hand strength with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally required to climb on a ladder.
- Ability to wear and utilize personal protective equipment.
Under the Department of Transportation-Federal Aviation Administration (DOT-FAA), the above listed position is categorized as a safety sensitive role. DOT-FAA regulations require informing applicants of the five drug categories tested during the post-offer, pre-employment drug test and while employed if selected for a random drug test: marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine, opioids, and phencyclidine.
