Lumber Yard Associate

Overview

PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies, solutions, and services. We focus on supplying building materials and solutions to professional home builders of all sizes including custom builders, large production builders, and multifamily builders. Our customers and community members know that they can rely on us for Legendary Service and quality products. Pay: $19.44- $21.53 hourly.

• Load customer vehicles with building materials safely and efficiently, both by hand and on a forklift.
• Keep yards clean and stock inventory.
• Report to the General Manager, Assistant Manager, Location Supervisor and work closely with external and internal customers.
• Maintain product knowledge and assist customers as needed.
• Adhere to company procedures, policies and protocols as set forth in the Employees Handbook.
• Wear high visibility safety gear and proper uniform; perform daily lift inspections.
• Operate equipment safely, keep aisles and exits clear, and promptly report accidents, incidents, or damaged products.
• Understand weight, height, and length limits to inform customers of safe handling or transportation capabilities.
• Pull orders and stage for will calls; complete paperwork for change orders and inventory adjustments.
• Open and close warehouse and yard when necessary; complete Blue-Volt training as needed.
• Seek to learn products and applications; attend product knowledge meetings.
• Know product locations in the yard and warehouse; read and interpret picking tickets and invoices.
• Maintain yard cleanliness throughout the course of work and keep forklift clean.
• Participate on safety committee if needed; follow safety protocols and conduct daily safety audits of forklift equipment.
• Greet and assist customers promptly, share product knowledge, and provide hold harmless forms when required.
• Perform duties outdoors in a retail lumberyard location and in all weather conditions.

• OSHA Certified Forklift License preferred.
• Ability to speak, write, and read English required.
• Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles, practices and protocols.
• Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials.
• Ability to read and interpret picking tickets and invoices.
• Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment.
• General knowledge and use of power tools.
• Ability to read a measuring tape and understand product terminology and grading.

• Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions; ability to stoop, bend, and walk.
