The Position
The Rock Creek Mechanical Maintenance program is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician Trainee. This position, under direct supervision, trains in safely performing mechanical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of systems, equipment, and fixtures in a wastewater treatment facility and/or remote pump stations.
Essential Functions
Performed under close supervision and in a developmental capacity.
(The essential functions listed below are not intended to reflect all duties that may be assigned to this classification. Clean Water Services (CWS) may augment duties and/or essential functions at its discretion. Additionally, some incumbents may not perform all Essential Functions)
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic mechanical knowledge of methods, materials, tools and testing equipment
- Safe work practices in an industrial setting
- Safe driving practices
- Identifying mechanical malfunction
- Keeping records and logs accurately with computer software programs
- Use of hand and power tools
- Safe driving practices
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including Standard Operating Procedures
- Carry out duties in a safe, professional and respectful manner
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including co-workers, other CWS officials, and the public
- Operate effectively in a team environment
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position.
Internship with CWS or 6 months experience in a wastewater treatment plant, utility, or related field or 6 months experience using mechanical tools and performing basic maintenance and repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment or mechanical correspondence course, college-level coursework, or trade school in a related field.
Upon selection, candidates must possess and maintain a valid State of Oregon driver's license.
